The National Iranian Ichthyology Conference Commences with a Speech by the President of Lorestan University / Lorestan: A Hub for Fish Farming in the Country

The 7th National Conference on Ichthyology of Iran commenced with a speech by Dr. Khosro Azizi, President of Lorestan University.
On Wednesday morning, November 8th, Dr. Khosro Azizi, President of Lorestan University, stated at the opening ceremony of the 7th National Conference on Ichthyology of Iran, held in the Shahid Student Assembly Hall, Alireza Faraji, Faculty of Basic Sciences, Lorestan University: "12 percent of the country's water resources exist in the province; in this province, there are 8000 springs, 29 permanent rivers, and numerous capacities in the field of fish and aquatic animal farming."
Dr. Azizi elaborated: "Holding such scientific conferences is among the factors that strengthen the connection between Lorestan University and the private and executive sectors of the province; a community-oriented university is an effective university for addressing the province's problems and challenges."
The President of Lorestan University stated: "28,000 tons of fish are produced annually in Lorestan; in this sector, 14,000 people have been employed directly and indirectly in Lorestan province."
The President of Lorestan University stated: "Lorestan is the hub for fish farming in the country; that is why we have established the Fisheries and Environment program at Lorestan University."
Dr. Khosro Azizi explained: "Holding applied scientific and research conferences is among the important scientific and operational solutions for strengthening the connection between researchers and university researchers with the community to reduce problems."
It is worth noting that this national conference is being held in collaboration with Lorestan University and the Iranian Ichthyology Association with the submission of 250 papers from across the country.
